Massacre in Liberia

January 20, 2017 by Staff News Writer

At 6:41 a.m. on Thursday, a man called the 911 emergency system to alert that his wife had received an alarming audio message from a neighbor.

The message had the voice of a young woman saying “please, don’t hurt me”. Therefore, not only did they call 911, but they also went to the house next door, and found five dead bodies and a conscious woman with heavy bleeding coming from the neck or shoulder. The bleeding was so strong that the woman could not speak. No doubt she had been beaten, but the neighbors had no idea how or why.

Then, the units 270 and 1125 of the Red Cross and the unit 3475 of security forces arrived at the house, located in Barrio La Victoria, in Liberia, and took the young woman to the hospital.

As confirmed by Carlos Hidalgo, from the Communications Department of the Security Forces, the five deceased were murder with a cut to the throat and several stab wounds. The scene, according to a member of the Red Cross, was dreadful.

According to the neighbors of the area, four students from the National University lived in the house where the events took place. The other two people were not known in the area.
