11 people were arrested for killing a Dutch couple and a Nicaraguan citizen

While working in Puntarenas, an officer from the Special Investigation Unit (UEI) of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) was injured in his ankle.

One of the bullets hit on the vest but it was nothing serious,

declared Maricel Rodríuez, spokeswoman for the OIJ.

The man who shot the officer had in a bullet injury on his head and had to be assisted, but everything was under control.

According to Rodríguez, so far, they have arrested 11 people in Barranca and Esparza. They are linked to a Dutch couple and a Nicaraguan citizen’s murder, which occurred in January 2016. They are also being investigated for aggravated theft.

The Dutch couple had been living in Costa Rica for 8 years and they were found tied up at the La Flecha ranch in Sardinal de Puntarenas.
