1,542 MEP officials have recently resigned

March 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Since the beginning of the school year, the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) has received 1,542 resignations.

Officials resign due to “personal matters”, but they also argued that the want to spend more time with their families, that they do not like the location of the educational center or that there is no Internet in the institution.

In these situations, the Department of Human Resources must appoint a substitute as soon as possible in order to provide the educational service. This is why a regulation will be issued so that the teacher is asked to give advance notice.

Yaxinia Díaz, head of the MEP’s Human Resources Department, said that giving up the places is a right that workers have, and despite that situation, there are no closed schools.

In the last few days, legislator Abelino Esquivel talked about alleged irregularities in the Department of Human Resources, and some apparent situations the educators were going through. According to him, there are cases of people who complain about being under the figure of supplying teachers because they do not feel that they have a guaranteed job.

The legislator reported that there were a number of anomalies regarding that issue in the Department of Human Resources, and accused Diaz of not giving an answer. However, the latter declared that she has not received any request from Esquivel.
