ICODER requested to investigate 5 officials from the municipality of San Carlos

November 11, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Nidia Jiménez, legislator from Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC), informed that The Costa Rican Institute of Sport and Recreation (ICODER) requested the Public Prosecutor to investigate 5 officials from the Municipality of San Carlos for alleged irregularities in the construction of the athletic track for the last National Games.

According to the complaint, ICODER provided 1,300 million colones to the Municipality for the reconstruction of the track, refurbishment of the gym, lounges and surroundings, the construction of the skating rink and three beach volleyball courts.

Although Sports Games were held in July 2015, ICODER has not accepted the running track since it does not meet the technical specifications and it has a great deterioration.

In December 2015, the institution decided not to approve an amount of 928 million colones of the settlement filed by the Municipality corresponding to 1.300 million colones.

Furthermore, ICODER urged the Municipality of San Carlos to fulfill the terms of the agreement.

The investigation request includes Alfredo Córdoba (mayor), Luis Manuel Vargas (supplier), David Quesada (project inspector), Gerardo Esquivel (project manager) and Rodrigo Méndez (treasurer).
