40 blood donors needed daily

About 40 blood donors are needed daily to be able to supply the country’s hospitals.

The National Blood Bank calls on the population to come and donate this week, at the facilities located on the southern coast of the Catholic church of Zapote.

The call aims to reach the goal of 32,000 donors to meet the blood amounts requested by hospitals. To date, 21,730 units have been received but 10,270 are still needed.

In addition, Next Sunday, September 10th, there will be a community donation day at the headquarters of the Red Cross in San Ignacio de Acosta from 7:00 a.m. until noon.

On September 24th, another community donation day will be held at the Municipality of Cartago, with the same schedule. This event is organized by the Health Board of Max Peralta Hospital.

Also, teams from the Blood Bank will visit different places in the country so that officials from different companies can make their donation.

To be a blood donor you must meet the following requirements:
-Being between 18 and the 60 years old.
-Weighing more than 50 kilos.
-Having a light breakfast before donating (no fatty or dairy products such as cheeses, margarines, butter, custard, sausages).
-Drinking plenty of fluids.
-Having an identity card or residence card.
-Being healthy.
