San Juan de Dios Hospital needs blood donors for Easter

April 5, 2017 by Staff News Writer

San Juan de Dios Hospital (HSJD) urgently needs blood donors, especially those of type O positive and negative.

Nancy Castrillo, head of the Blood Bank, explained that donors are not approaching and this puts the reserves for Easter at risk.

Therefore, the microbiologist calls on donors to collaborate urgently. To have an optimal reserve, 40 donors are needed daily and only 18 are coming.

The opening hours are from Monday to Saturday:
– Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
– Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
– Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
– On Easter they will open from Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The requirements for donors are:
– Being between 18 and 65 years old and weighing more than 50 kilos.
– Submitting your identity card.
– Having had a light breakfast.
– Not having ingested alcohol in 24 hours.

The Blood Bank is located outside the HSJD, in front of the Emergency Service, on Paseo Colón, on the second floor of the Joissar Building.
