400 tons of food and water were donated to Upala

November 30, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Costa Rican Guides and Scouts Association managed to collect 400 tons of non-perishable food, water and personal hygiene products for those affected by Hurricane Otto in Upala.

More than 12 thousand volunteers carried out the campaign “Operation Always Ready” and collected the articles in the seven provinces of the country, which were delivered to the Red Cross.

In addition, about 50 guides and scouts traveled to Upala to help with the accommodation and administration of the National Emergency Commission (CNE) warehouse, where food and personal hygiene items are distributed to the shelters.

Also, the volunteers are keeping the children’s spirit up by playing and singing with them.

To make a donation of non-perishable food, please go to any Red Cross committee. At the moment, no clothes or shoes are being received.
