74,343 vehicles already have the “marchamo”

November 15, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The collection of the car ownership tax (marchamo) began less than 2 weeks ago, and 74,343 vehicle owners have already made the payment of this obligation.

According to figures from the collection agency, the National Insurance Institute (INS), at this time the amount paid exceeds ¢ 12.5 billion.

The marchamo is composed of several items corresponding to various institutions. During this process, the INS acts as a collector and transfers to each of these institutions the percentage that corresponds to them. The INS only administers the Automotive Obligatory Insurance, known as SOA.

The current figure represents 5.2% of the total receipts charged.

For the current period, the INS made available to the public 2,259 points of collection distributed throughout the country, 358 more than those authorized for the previous year.
