Residents from Bajo Los Anonos are asking authorities to return them the Cen-CINAI

November 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Residents from Bajo Los Anonos in Escazú, are asking authorities to return them the use of Cen-CINAI, which was declared uninhabitable in 2009. The National Emergency Commission (CNE) has conducted 11 technical studies in the area and the most recent study took place on October 5th with the use of a drone.

The conclusion is the same: the area where the Cen-CINAI is located is highly dangerous and it is not suitable for building due to its potential risk of slides.

The Commission denied mayor of Escazú Arnoldo Barahona’s words, who said that his hands were tied due to the lack of a statement from the institution and stated that since the first report, the CNE has informed the Municipality of Escazú that there is a great vulnerability in the area.

Citizens denounce discrimination from the Municipality of Escazú and ssure that from now on they will demand their rights.

We do not deserve this. We deserve a Cen-CINAI as any other citizens from any other place in the country. We have waited so many years and no one is helping us,

declared Noilyn Vásquez, President of the Association of Development from Bajos Los Anonos.

Residents announced that if the authorities do not resolve their situation, they will protest in front of the National Emergency Commission.
