Alajuelita celebrates Cristo El Negro

At the end of the Mass a procession of the Black Christ.


Residents of Alajuelita held a procession on Wednesday to honor the Black Christ, which is a tradition celebrated since 1818. The event kicks off cultural activities that will continue through January. The original image of the Black Christ on the cross comes from Esquipulas, Guatemala, and is based on an event that occured on January 15, 1595.
