At least 50 patients were treated by the Red Cross during Saturday afternoon and night, during the 2016Festival of Light and the parade held hours earlier.
According to the Costa Rican Red Cross, the operation allowed to transfer stable patients to health centers. Most of the assisted patients were in age range of 20-59 years old.
For this type of event the Red Cross provides first aid services and coordinates with hospitals in the capital for possible emergency transfers.
