Dead fish in Pacific Beach

February 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday morning, thousands of dead fish floated to the shore and lay on the sand of one of the beaches from Manzanillo and Abangaritos.

The image surprised both locals and tourists.

The situation occurred in one of the beaches surrounding Hacienda la Ensenada Hotel.

The Costa Rican Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (INCOPESCA) said that a man called to file the complaint.

SENASA, on the other hand, assured that this is INCOPESCA’s exclusive work, and recommended citizens to avoid consuming the fish, because the cause of the death is still unknown, as indicated by Dr. Oliver Cruz, Director Of the Safety of Animal Origin Products from SENASA.
