Beware of “healing” eggs!

March 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Some people assure that the energy of these eggs heals cysts and polycystic ovaries, myomas (benign tumors), herpes, vaginal infections, pains, menstrual irregularities and more …

However, according to the Ministry of Health, it would be just an advertisement to sell products whose properties could not be scientifically proven and that just had their health registration before the Ministry on February 20th.

In addition to the eggs, the Ministry warns about the sale of menstrual cups, which are in the same situation.

People who use these products are exposed to serious risks because there is no certainty about the conditions under which they have been manufactured, stored or transported in addition to possible adverse events and contraindications, among many other factors that may Influence people’s health,

was reported by the Ministry.

In addition, it was informed that people or companies that are selling them are exposed to various administrative and even criminal sanctions.

CRHoy.com looked for the company involved, Copa Menstrual MeLuna Costa Rica, through Facebook. The page does not any phone number. In addition, it has an e-mail address that gives an error and leads to Google searches on the sale of these products in countries like Colombia.

These are the recommendations made by the health authorities:

-Always verify that the products to be used have a sanitary registry in force, granted by the Ministry of Health. You can do it on the register platform.
-Purchase products only in establishments authorized by the Ministry of Health, avoiding purchases through Internet especially when the products are presented with therapeutic indications and miracle-type effect.
-Tell a health professional if you have any health problems due to the consumption or use of a product that has been purchased through Internet, so that it is immediately reported to the Ministry of Health.
-Report to the Ministry of Health those establishments or individuals and companies that are suspected to be marketing products without sanitary registration in the national territory. To do this, you can go to the nearest Health Authority of the Area or send an email to denuncias@ministeriodesalud.go.cr
