March 22, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Officers of Garabito’s Public Force in Puntarenas arrested a man who allegedly attempted to flee after a collision. This same person apparently threatened and fired a gun at a taxi.

According to preliminary reports, a complaint alerted the officers about a person who tried to flee after colliding with a taxi. As they went to the site, they saw another taxi that had several bullet holes, and a few meters away they stopped a vehicle with the suspect of executing those shots.

According the victims, this person would have hit the taxi and wanted to escape. Therefore, the other taxi driver began to follow him and the man apparently pulled the gun and fired at this other vehicle.

Upon boarding the vehicle and registering it, officers found a 9 mm caliber firearm along with 18 ammunition.

In addition, the uniformed men arrested the man with the French surname Escaler and referred him to the judicial authorities.
