Santa Teresa will be the epicenter of national surfing this weekend

April 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

This weekend, the waves of Santa Teresa will test the best surfers in the country when the Otis Cup is held.

The show is guaranteed, as the pre-selected sportsmen will enter the water seeking a spot in the National Team for the World Cup in France, which will be held in May.

Waves of up to two meters high are expected for both Saturday and Sunday.

Jair Pérez, native from Jacó, arrives as leader of the championship, but must defend that position before the locals Anthony Fillingim and Ramon Taliani.

All events are different, different heats and different waves. I’m excited because Santa Teresa always gives us very good waves …”

said Pérez.

In the feminine branch, two of the most prominent figures are Coral Wiggins and Emily Gussoni, who has lost points due to her absence in the second date.

In total, more than 150 competitors are expected in the different categories for a date that will start at 7 a.m., both on Saturday and Sunday.
