Costa Rican transport app seeks 500 female drivers

June 19, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The new Costa Rican application for private transport “Tiko me lleva” is looking for 500 female drivers who want to work.

These women will work for the “Exclusive Tika” category, which aims to be an option for all women who feel more comfortable traveling with other women.

Allan Brenes, Operations Manager for the app said that the idea is to give users the opportunity to choose whether they want to travel with a woman or a man, which is not offered by any other app so far.

According to the official, they seek to have at least 500 women for this category, which may have an additional and safe source of income for their home.

In addition to the female category, the platform has three more service options: Tiko Economic, with vehicles models from 2000 to 2009 and a cheaper rate (25% less), Tiko 2010+, with vehicles from 2010 onwards, and Tiko XL, with vehicles with capacity for seven passengers or more, model 2010 onwards. These three categories are for both men and women.

The application will be available to the public from July 14th and drivers will have a 100% profit, but will have to pay $25 per month for maintenance and support.

We will use Uber prices as a reference but we have four categories. We are going to work with cash and cards. Unlike Uber, that takes week to pay the drivers, we have the promise to deposit their money the following day. The $25 is just to cover operating expenses,”

added Brenes.

All the developers are Costa Rican and both professional men and women participate.
