Feed others on Saturday

July 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On July 22nd, the Blood Bank will hold a day of food collection that will meet the needs of people who are in poverty.

This will be part of the “Chepe baña” campaign of the Promundo Foundation, which will give attention to the inhabitants of the street of San José, who will be able bathe, receive basic medical care and food. The activity will start at 7:00 a.m. on the boulevard of Avenida 4, in La Merced Park.

It will be joined by the Hospital San Juan de Dios (HSJD), which will volunteer on aspects such as food, clothing and medical care for the inhabitants of the street.

The Food Bank has provided support to the Promundo Foundation for three years, so it will have an information stand, where it will announce the work it does in the fight against hunger and food waste.

France Linares, Executive Director of the bank, said that at the moment they concentrate their efforts on supporting people at social risk, with donations of food and basic necessities.

That is why they invite the citizens to join the cause by donating rice, beans, long-lasting milk and coffee, since these are the products of greater consumption by the populations that they assist.

Mauricio Villalobos, president of Fundación Promundo, commented that the bank’s collaboration has been decisive, so this time they’ll motivate people to help with their donations.
