These are the five legislators who refused to investigate Celso Gamboa

September 14, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Frente Amplio legislator, Patricia Mora, presented a motion on Tuesday to call for the appearance of former Security Minister, Deputy Attorney General and now Judge Celso Gamboa.

Mora was looking for Gamboa to give explanations before the cementazo committee for the trip where he “ran into” the Chinese cement importer, Juan Carlos Bolaños.

Five legislators voted against demanding explanations from Gamboa and against asking the Minister of Security, Gustavo Mata, to hand over the security videos of Juan Santamaria airport, where they could see if Gamboa and Bolaños traveled together.

However, the motion was rejected. These five legislators voted against the motion: Nidia Jiménez, from the Citizen Action Party (PAC), William Alvarado, from the Partido Social Cristiana (PUSC), Aracelly Segura and Julio Rojas, from the National Liberation Party (PLN) as well as José Alberto Alfaro, from the Libertarian Movement.

Only Patricia Mora, Ottón Solís and Ronny Monge voted in favor.

The magistrate left the country on October 9th in the same flight as Bolaños, and they returned together on October 11th. As reported by the press, Gamboa left with his regular passport from Costa Rica but entered and left Panama with the diplomatic passport, which he used to enter Costa Rica again even though he was not on an official trip.
