Judge Celso Gamboa Sánchez: “some people have been spying on me”

December 21, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Celso Gamboa Sánchez, Judge of the Third Chamber, former prosecutor and former Minister of Public Security, reported, before the Judicial Inspection Unit and the Attorney’s General Office, alleged espionage on him by the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) and the Prosecutor in recent years.

Gamboa declared that, from 2013 to 2016, five officers, three prosecutors and other officers would have spied on him through the Police Information Platform (PIP).

Indeed, this platform was questioned in the past due to espionage on Keylor Navas Gamboa, football player at the National team and at the Real Madrid Football Club.

From that case and out of curiosity, Gamboa requested a review to the Office of Plans and Operations (OPO), at the OIJ, to verify if someone had accessed his personal data. The document was delivered last Friday.

On 14 different occasions, 9 different people approached me in an unjustified way. To be studied at the PIP, an investigation must be required. Such situation has to be justified. As consequence, I’ve decided to take actions,

declared the magistrate.

Gamboa requested an investigation to know whether there is a crime of violation of jurisdiction, which includes magistrates or ministers.
