The Peñas Blancas border crossing with Nicaragua will be open 24 hours on April 11th, 12th and 16th. Officials expect the border will get busier between April 10th and the 20th, as Nicaraguans cross in anticipation of the Holy Week holiday. Prior to crossing, a $7 exit tax is due and can be paid with debit card at the border or with cash at bank branches throughout the country.
