PUSC has new faces in the presidency and general secretariat

April 30, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Rosibel Ramos, outgoing legislator of the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC), was designated as the new general secretary of that political group.

During the national assembly developed this Sunday, Ramos obtained 69 of 70 votes to occupy the position of Pablo Heriberto Abarca (legislator-elect).

Randall Quirós was appointed as the new party president. This, instead of Pedro Múñoz, who will take office as legislator from next Tuesday.

Another important detail in the activity this Sunday was that the PUSC agreed not to punish Piza -or any other party member- for being part of the government of President-elect Carlos Alvarado.

The statutes of the party established that those supporters who participate in a public position in a government that is not of their party would be sanctioned. Article 60 says that to be nominated by the party to any office of popular election, it is essential to be a party militant with a continuous and clearly verifiable support to the party for two years.

Piza will be the Minister of the Presidency and others like Rodolfo Méndez Mata and Patricia Vega will also be part of the portfolio of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) and the National Children’s Trust (PANI), respectively.

Other Social Christians in the government will be Carlos Manuel Rodríguez in the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) and Luis Adrián Salazar in the Ministry of Science and Technology (MICITT).
