Public Demands Resignation of Fiscal for Mishandling of Jairo Mora Case

January 29, 2015 by Staff News Writer

A group of concerned citizens protested this morning before the steps of the Supreme Court, calling for the resignation of the country’s attorney general. Jorge Chavarría, who has admitted prosecutors mishandled evidence in the trial of men accused of murdering environmental activist, Jairo Mora is also refusing to appear before Congress to testify on behalf of his agency.

Legal experts have categorized the failings of the prosecutors in the Limon providence as severe. Among the mistakes, prosecutors frequently missed deadlines and failed to produce audio recordings, taken from phone intercepts of the suspects.
