Carlos Chinchilla, a Costa Rican pilot convicted of money laundering in the Southern District Court of New York will be required to serve 13 months in prison, to complete the 3 year term of his sentence for money laundering. Prosecutors had sought a 10 year sentence, but this was reduced when Chinchilla cooperated with authorities and turned over information on a land deal in Guanacaste.
