Authorities report improvement in child with AH1N1

June 18, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The authorities of the Hospital San Juan de Dios (HSJD) reported improvement in the health of a 22-day-old baby who has the AH1N1.

Doctor Roberto Araya, Head of Neonatology at that medical center, explained that the endotracheal tube was removed on Monday and the baby is only assisted by a non-invasive ventilator. Another positive sign is that the baby tolerates milk and is more active.

At least two more days of constant monitoring will be necessary to have absolute certainty that he is out of danger. The baby’s mother can already visit and bring milk for the child, because he has already exceeded the estimated time of possible infection.

The doctors insist on extreme measures of hygiene and avoid participating in agglomerations in case of having symptoms of cold.
