Transit police office arrested on a charge of authority abuse

A traffic officer was arrested on Monday morning for allegedly abusing his authority.

The judicial investigations police (OIJ) received on May 13th, a complaint from a bus driver against a 61 year old officer.

The complaint alleges that the officer, while off duty in Turrialba acted with another man who claimed to be a lawyer in an attempt to seize a bus. The driver said that the officer tried to intimidate him to pay overdue fees. However, the action was attempted without court order.

The officer was arrested at 11:00 am on Monday while working his shift in Ochomogo in the Highway Florencio del Castillo.
