Bridge will connect communities with Alajuela’s Radial

July 29, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The bridge over Ciruelas River, which is intended to connect the passage of vehicles with Alajuela’s radial, will be completed in a month.

The place only has a pedestrian crossing, leaving communities such as Monserrat and Villa Bonita, isolated from a vehicular-access perspective.

The construction will save drivers who need to go to Alajuela or leave towards San José from going through the downtown area.

That bridge has never existed and people have been waiting for it for years. With this, the traffic will not have to go through Alajuela’s downtown area, and we will lower congestion during peak hours,”

said Robert Thompson, mayor of Alajuela.

The bridge had a cost of 300 million colones and was financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
