4.8 earthquake shook Sarapiquí

An earthquake of 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred nine minutes after midnight on Sunday morning. The tremor recorded 21 kilometers northwest of Puerto Viejo in Sarapiquí was felt in Cariari, Pococí, Limón, Barra del Colorado, Heredia, Upala and San Carlos.

The quake was caused by a local failure, according to the OVSICORI.

Fortunately, there were no damage to property or victims.
