August 11, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On the 40th anniversary of the Área de Salud Alajuela Norte from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), doctor Mario Ávila, the medical center director, announced the opening of consultations at home for patients requiring palliative care or for those who have mental disorders.

These two specialties will be added to the other services that they are already providing: endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, peripheral vascular and dentistry.

In addition, they take care of high-risk adolescents, diabetic foot, breast care, minor surgery, nutrition, psychology and the emergency services.

Last year they gave more than 120.000 consultations in general medicine and about 40.000 with specialists. The emergency service received 1,020,583 patients.

The celebration also included an educational fair for disease prevention and blood donation.
