In 2015 immunization dropout rate was lower than in past years

August 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Health Services Provision Evaluation (EPSS), held annually in the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), indicated that in 2015 more Costa Ricans were vaccinated.

The analysis was performed using the data from the pentavalent vaccine, which protects infants from diphtheria, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIV) and whooping-cough.

The immunization dropout rate is an international indicator, and the World Health Organization (WHO) requires that these parameters are maintained within a range between -5% and + 5%.

In 2014, Brunca was the only region in Costa Rica that came out of the range which reached a rate of 7.2%, but then it went down to 1% in 2015.
