ARESEP didn’t allow the distribution of 10,657 gas cylinders

August 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

After 185 inspections in the gas bottling companies, the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) didn’t allow the distribution of 10,657 gas cylinders because they represent a huge risk.

ARESEP checked 13,658 cylinders, out of which 78% weren’t distributed, and it also found that 38% of the cylinders did not have weight mark, an aspect that prevents users to review the amount of gas it was packed in the cylinder they buy. Punitive proceedings can be started against companies that fail to comply with this information.

According to ARESEP, a reduction of 45% of gas leak risk was achieved.
