A magic encounter!

November 2, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Guide Cristhian Jiménez is used to these experiences. During his seven-year career, he has seen over 70 pumas. But for a domestic or foreign tourist, this can be a terrifying, magic experience.

In late October, Jiménez made a tour in Corcovado National Park with three Spanish and a Colombian tourist. They were walking through La Leona when they saw a cougar approaching.

It saw us. We were quiet. It skirted us and turned back. I told tourists to be quiet. I have seen pumas 72 times and this one came quiet. If a cougar stands and wags its tail from side to side, quietly but with fixed eyes, there is possibility of an attack. However, this one wasn’t doing that. Violence begets violence. If you attack the animal, the animal will attack you. Life is like that, “

declared Cristhian.

He declared that many foreign tourists are satisfied with their first visit to Costa Rica. As a result, he encourages Costa Ricans to better know and enjoy their country.
