Africans tried to block Costa Rica-Nicaragua border

August 2, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A group of about 200 Africans tried to block Peñas Blancas border.

According to Migration Press Office, it happened because foreigners wanted to enter Nicaraguan territory and authorities from that country did not allow it. However, the situation was controlled by Costa Rican officials.

Apparently, several riots occurred in the area and even the Red Cross took part on the incident because a law enforcement officer was injured. Nevertheless, it wasn’t serious.

For several weeks they the area has had problems due to foreigners who want to continue their way to the United States.
