Airlines resumed their operations

September 21, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Silvia Chaves, spokeswoman for Aeris Holding Costa Rica and administrator of the International Juan Santamaría Airport, confirmed that airlines Sansa, Nature Air, Avianca, Copa Airlines, Iberia, Veca, Jet Blue and Air Canada, resumed operations after the airport closure.

The decision to close the international airport was made as a security measure due to the ash cloud that appeared in the sky after Turrialba volcano’s eruptions. However, it meant additional costs for the airlines, which had to paid travelers’ lodging and feeding.
