November 3, 2016 by Staff News Writer

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the central region of Alajuela has the highest number of dengue cases recorded so far.

A new report on the country confirmed cases of dengue, Chikungunya and Zika. It also stated that Alajuela has 3,149 cases.

The Dengue that is circulating in the country through 3 different serotypes continues to be a concern for the authorities, because a person who already suffered one of these types, could be infected again and the case tends to be more severe and it may even cause death.

In the country, there are 19,322 registered cases of this disease.

On the other hand, 121 cases of pregnant women who are suffering or suffered from zika, another disease transmitted by the aedes aegypti mosquito, were confirmed.

In the country there are 1,375 Zika cases confirmed.

Keeping these diseases at bay is simple: remove mosquito’s breedig sites by cleaning yards, prevent stagnant water, use insect repellents and install window’s nets.
