A new case of animal abuse took place last Friday. A dog was found lying in a vacant lot with his face completely disfigured.

It It is thought that it was savagely attacked using a machete, which caused it a great injury that required surgery. The incident ocurred in Alto de las Palomas in Santa Ana.

The puppy, called Arena, was hurt on his snout. It was found by a person named Anyela Soto, who looked for help everywhere so the dog could receive medical attention.

Respaldo y Respeto Animal Association (ARRA) took over the case. Arena is stable, but the wounds are really serious. The dog needs another surgery to cure the damage on its nostrils.

This is getting out of control; I don´t know what is happening in this country. If people do this to an animal, it can be done to a person at any time,

declared Gina Vargas, rescuer from ARRA.

The association calls for a quick approval of the law against animal abuse to put an end to these actions. They are also asking cooperation to cover the costs of Arena´s medical care.
