ARESEP approved fuel price reduction

December 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) approved a reduction in the price of fuel that corresponds to the extraordinary adjustment of the month of December.

The super gasoline will have a ¢24 reduction, the regular will be ¢12 less expensive and the diesel will cost ¢12 less.

The decrease in fuel prices is due to an excess supply in the international market that was experienced in recent months, a situation that caused an increase in the level of inventories and the consequent decrease in the prices of finished products imported by Costa Rica.

The decrease in the exchange rate of the colon in relation to the dollar registered in recent days was also influential to set the new prices that will be in force the day after the resolution they are published in the Official Gazette.
