Assembly will no longer finance food for legislators

September 10, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Legislative Assembly will no longer finance buy food for legislators. This was announced on Monday night to CRHoy.com by Carlos Ricardo Benavides, president of Congress, which indicates that with the elimination of the food item, 25 million colones will be saved per year, about two million colones per month.

The decision was made by the Legislative Directory last Friday and the measure is in force now,”

said Benavides, who said that the legislators have reacted differently to the measure, but it is something that has already been talked about, since the tender for food in the cafeteria of the Plenary was done month by month.

He added that when the new Assembly building is finished, it will have a cafeteria that will make lunch hour easier for legislators.
