Beware! Abusing testosterone supplements can dangerously affect your health!

December 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

It is easy to abuse them but their risks are very high for health. Because of this, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched an alert on the consumption of testosterone supplements and anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS).

According to the FDA, these could lead to heart attacks, changes in personality and sterility, among other risks that added doctor Eduardo Ruiz, internist at Biblica Clinic.

According to the FDA warning, testosterone abuse, usually at higher doses than the ones normally described and usually along with other AAS, is associated with serious safety risks that affect the heart, the brain, the liver, the mental health and the endocrine system.

The agency justifies the alert with reports of cases of heart attack, heart failure, stroke, depression, hostility, aggressiveness, liver toxicity and male sterility.

Individuals abusing high doses of testosterone have also reported depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of appetite, reduced libido and insomnia,

warns the institution.

The doctor added that for years testosterone was associated with the development of prostate cancer and although this relationship has not been confirmed, it is necessary to be aware.
