Bridge between Desamparados and Aserrí will be closed until Monday

August 4, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The bridge over Guatuso River, between the plains from San Miguel de Desamparados and Aserrí, will be completely closed until next Monday.

Only pedestrians will be allowed, as reported by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT).

Initially, the bridge was supposed to be closed today at 6 a.m. until Friday at 5 a.m. and then it would be closed again between August 8th and 10th.

However, Silvia Gómez, an engineer of the National Roads Authority, explained that they made a few changes and now the bridged will remain closed until Monday to take advantage of the weekend and cause less inconvenience to users on weekdays.

They will do some sandblasting and set fillings in the areas approaching the new bridge under construction. The official explained that these are concrete structures built on site, the material needs time acquires the right stiffness or consistency.

The closure of this area of Route 304 forces users to take alternative routes, such as Salitrillos.

This structure has a cost of ¢ 402 million and will be completed in September, after the road surface markings.
