Bridge over Virilla River will be closed for 41 hours

January 5, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The transit through the bridge over the Virilla River, known as “La Platina”, in the direction Alajuela-San José, will be closed for 41 hours.

The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT). This measure will apply from Saturday January 7th at noon until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.

As confirmed by the MOPT, the closure -the most extensive so far- is due to the placement of the piece of the truss of the new lane.

The articulated trucks will not be able to continue beyond the EPA intersection in Belén, while the rest will be able to continue, as far as the crossing of the Castella,”

said the ministry in an official statement.

They will also close for 15 minutes the transit in the direction San José-Alajuela for each other closure in order to place cranes.

The alternate routes are by Barreal and Lagunilla, until the sector of the Pozuelo. Also, by Río Segundo-San Joaquín-Heredia or by route 27,”

said the MOPT.
