Campaign to exchange glass containers for new glasses

November 4, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A glass collection campaign aims to encourage people to recycle by rewarding them with the chance to change their broken or whole glass containers for new glasses.

The campaign will take place from November 1st to 30th. The material will be received from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the facilities of Distribuidora Internacional y Comercial (Distincomer) located in Taras de Cartago.

In addition, a Glass Friday will be held each week in the municipal parks of Esparza, La Unión, Paraíso, Oreamuno, El Guarco, Tibás, Montes de Oca and Heredia, with the support of the Ecolones program.

In the case of people who take their containers to the 48 points of Ecolones and register on Facebook with the hashtag # EnVidrioEsMejor, they will be participating in a raffle for 50 sets of six glasses.

According to the Central American Window (Vical), recycling glass prevents valuable waste from reaching sanitary landfills, it also decreases the consumption of virgin raw material and energy necessary for the production process.

Take into account:
-To recycle disposable or non-returnable glass bottles, they must have no caps, straws or aluminum waste.
– Classified by color: crystalline, green, and amber
– Flat glass (windows), screens, fluorescent tubes or returnable glass containers are not accepted.
