Canadian tourist suddenly died in Guanacaste hotel

October 22, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) investigates the sudden death of a 42-year-old Canadian tourist, named Edmond Shawn Leslie, after a discussion with staff at the Riu hotel in Guanacaste.

According to the preliminary information collected by the agents, the man would have had a strong argument with the reception staff to such an extent that he tried to skip the counter. The incident occurred on Saturday at the hotel located in Sardinal de Carrillo.

That was when Riu security personnel intervened to control and even handcuff the man.

While being under internal security control, the tourist fainted. So the hotel called the health staff. A company doctor declared him dead at the scene.
