CNE dealt with 56 incidents due to heavy rains this weekend

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) handled 56 incidents due to heavy rains during the weekend in several parts of the country.

Wálter Fonseca, the company’s chief of operations, explained that most problems were caused by flooding, especially on Sunday night.

We had incidents in many cantons of the national territory : Golfito, Osa, Corrales, Paraíso, Turrialba, Zona Norte, Valverde Vega, Zarcero, Grecia, Alajuela, Desamparados, San José, Curridabat, Goicoechea, San Pedro,”

said Fonseca.

On Saturday, a landslide in Junquillo de Puriscal affected four homes. According to the Municipal Emergency Committee’s assessment, the people of that area must leave the place.

According to Fonseca, on Sunday, floods affected about 20 homes in Las Gravilias de Desamparados and several damages were reported.

In La Fortuna de San Carlos, a bridge collapsed in the area known as Los Angeles. This morning, CNE officials will make an assessment of the incident.
