CNE has dealt with 20 flood incidents so far this week

June 6, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Between Monday and Tuesday, the National Emergency Commission (CNE) dealt with 20 incidents related to floods, according to the latest report from the institution. The largest number was given on the first day of this week, which registered 17 cases.

The CNE also dealt with two incidents related to landslides and 13 inspection requests in those two days. Most of the emergencies occurred in the South zone of the country, in Golfito specifically; followed by Buenos Aires, Puriscal, and Naranjo.

On Tuesday, emergencies related to weather conditions decreased considerably: Only 12, two due to landslides, three due to floods, and seven were inspection requests.

To date, emergencies have caused damage to five vital lines and 51 homes and public buildings.

The passage of a tropical wave across the country generated heavy rains behind these incidents.
