Color Hospital seeks funds to finish last stage of construction

July 25, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Color Hospital project is in its final stage. However, it needs the solidarity of Costa Ricans to conclude it successfully. The initiative seeks to color the facade of the National Children’s Hospital in order to improve the stay of hundreds of children.

The total cost was estimated at around $400 thousand. The first two stages were completed with the placement of colored stickers on the front rails of the hospital.

The third and final stage consists of aluminum panels that allow the passage of light without generating visibility inconveniences or additional thermal load. This way, those who transit in front of the building and for those who are inside it will see the colors,”

said Andrés Porras, architect in charge of the project.

In the emergency area, a design was made that took into account the long hours that parents and accompanying persons must endure there, indirectly using the psychology of colors.

At night, the area is also illuminated, which will make the facade a warmer and more pleasant place for those who must wait there.

To achieve this third stage, Color Hospital has opened bank accounts so that people can join. Approximately $200 thousand are still needed to complete it. All the information of the project and its evolution can be followed through their Facebook site.
