Costa Rica is one of the most risky countries!

September 26, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, storms or droughts can take place in any country. Costa Rica is among the five most risky countries to suffer natural disasters in the world.

It was published in the World Risk Index 2016 presented by the United Nations University, where the vulnerability of 170 countries and their risk to suffer natural disasters is analyzed.

In the category of the most exposed countries, Costa Rica is in the fifth place in the world, after countries such as Japan, the Philippines, Tonga and Vanuatu.

We need to evaluate the opportunities and risks of infrastructure. A good infrastructure can reduce the impact that natural disasters can cause in terms of human and economic damage,

declared Matthias Garschagen, director of the report.

Countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand have lower risk levels.
