Costa Rica finished its participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) with a prize: the country received the Best International Adventure Travel Award, given by Oxígeno Magazine.

Oxígeno has 23,000 readers per month, more than 50,000 monthly visits to its website, 28,000 fans on Facebook and 6,000 followers on twitter.

Minister of Tourism Mauricio Ventura stressed that Costa Rica has an excellent reputation as an adventure destination: according to the results of the evaluation of the tourism competitiveness of the World Economic Forum, which was carried out in 141 countries, Costa Rica is still the world leader in environmental, sustainable and tourist products, occupying the first place in nature and the second place in adventure, being surpassed by New Zealand.

In his opinion, this recognition is backed by CNN en Español, which ranked the country among the 12 adventure destinations recommended when travelling.

In addition, according to National Geographic, the country was ranked “top ten” of the best adventure destinations in 2015, and it was ranked first in the Top Adventure Destinations from the International Network of Luxury-Travel Agencies.

FITUR is the most important event in the Spanish market and the second largest fair in the world. It brings together more than 9,000 tourism companies and 124,000 buyers from 165 countries.
