June 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Among Central American Countries, Costa Rica got the best ranking and now it occupies the 2nd position in Latin America in the 2016 Global Peace Index.

This ranking is prepared by The Hague Institute for Global Justice and highlights the country as one that has not required armed forces despite border disputes.

Worldwide, Costa Rica ranked 33, among the top 40 listed with a “high level of peace”. The first 3 positions belong to Iceland, Denmark and Austria.

In addition, the index indicated that although there are problems of insecurity in Central America, the overall score has improved.
Moreover, the results stressed that terrorism deaths increased 286% and that the world is a 2.44% less peaceful since 2008.
