Costa Rican police captures an American fugitive

June 15, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Costa Rican authorities caught the American justice fugitive, John Wesley Saatio, 35 years old, who faces several criminal charges in his country.

Saatio escaped from U.S. police custody while he was being returned to prison after a hearing before a court at Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Saatio is a registered sexual offender and faces charges for burglary, destruction of police property, and breaching of parole.

Costa Rican immigration authority does not know how Saation entered the country. His name was not registered on the foreigners entry record.

Costa Rican police located the suspect after receiving a call and a photograph from an unidentified source.

The fugitive was captured 15 days ago at a bar in Jacó of Garabito, Puntarenas.

The fugitive tried to escape by bending the cells’ bar where he was detained at the police delegation of Garabito.

Currently, the American is in custody of the Costa Rican immigration authority. According to US media reports, the Department of State is preparing to request his extradition.
