Director of Fiscal Police under investigation for signing “false justification” for Celso Gamboa

December 6, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for Probity, Transparency and Anti-Corruption started an investigation for the crime of ideological falsehood against the director of the Fiscal Control Police, Irving Malespín, because he allegedly signed a false justification in the name of that institution so that the former deputy minister of Sala Tercera, Celso Gamboa, justified an absence in a judicial statement.

The hearing Gamboa had to attend was for a case of drug trafficking, but the former magistrate presented the letter with the signature of Malespin to the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Trafficking and Related Crimes.

According to a source, the justification was to point out that due to a problem of poor parking of vehicles, the former magistrate was unable to take out his car to go to the courts in Cartago.

However, when the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of Drug Trafficking conducts a review of the facts mentioned in the permit, it is noticed that Gamboa is not in the records of the Mira Building or in its parking lot.

When asked about this, the chief of the Treasury Police indicated that he has certainly signed papers for Celso Gamboa as a personal lawyer and that, in addition, the former magistrate, as a lawyer, has reviewed some cases of smuggling for the Fiscal Police.
